Bio

Adam StewartMy interest for media and design has always been strong, with it's roots in my desire for good design of products, brands and the world around us.

I began to develop my skills in media production specifically when I and others in my local church formed and pioneered a Media Team. Within the team I and others input into design and promotion of the church. I personally input and created the three versions of their web site and a brand identity. Also over the years created CD and DVD covers, publications, posters and advertising and teaching tools, as well as the technical side of media such as the day to day running of the web site and promotion through and of it. This was where I learned the ideas and implications of media including its impact on people and groups.

Furthermore, out of the church I have created works for a finance company including web site development and branding, school projects and Event promotions.
Qualifications include 4 A Levels of which I have an 'A' Media Studies and I also have 11 GSCE's. I attended Birmingham City University where I studied and graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Media and Communication specialising in Web and New Media.

At university I created many projects as part of my course from the MyTurf to Skint Magazine and one which I'm most proud of, Project Negative. Also was also heavily involved in the union's LGBT society as the Marketing/Publicity Officer, where I created the identity and marketed the group. This included the creation and design of the website, countless posters for events and promotion, full use and integration of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Ning and Tumblr and a freshers’ pack for the newcomers of the society.

I am currently employed as a web designer at Barques Design as of June 2010

Quotes

Adam is an outstandingly talented student with great design skills, an understanding of web and design technology, and a grasp of the creative potential of social media too. I'd snap him up and pay him lots of money if I were you!

Paul Bradshaw (Online Journalism Blog)

Adam is a very polite, quick-thinking self-starter. He has a mature attitude towards problem solving, and keeps a calm head in situations where others could become flustered. It was a pleasure to have him work with Times Online, and he contributed significantly during his time here

Samantha Lyster (Times Online)

Adam designed a complete website for Birchfield Harriers. We were delighted with both the standard of his work and the timescale within which he delivered the final project. He was at all times highly creative and accessible and worked to very tight deadlines. In addition he was very communicative and understood our requirements very quickly. He was at all times professional and it was a pleasure to work with him. Adam has now produced a site which now reflects the standing of the club in the world of athletics and we would recommend him highly to anyone wishing to use his services in future.

Cath Muth (Birchfield Harriers)

Adam’s expertise in web design and his impeccable eye for colour and style have proved invaluable in designing a site that is attractive and accessible to a wide range of users. This aspect is of particular importance to us, as a school, where communication through technology with students, staff, parents and other members of the public with varying levels of ability becomes a part of our daily routine. Throughout the project, Adam has offered a high level of professionalism, met all the required deadlines, made any amendments as necessary and provided expert advice, some of which has stimulated further discussions regarding the development of our school Virtual Learning Environment.
